i know there is a calvin and hobbes-esque style to the cute earth face, but that blush and the fact that Gaia is often personified as female kind of makes me thing -Kun is not the best choice of suffix, maybe go with -tan or -chan.

Simillion - 2018-07-16 it isn't, but it isn't applicable to earth either. It's used, for example, among classmates or coworkers of lower/equal status, and will yes, refer to females.
but in the context of the earth, it isn't a good fit, unless you just like the sound of it, which is just you wanting to bastardize another language.
