finger skateboards and yo-yos were the shit in the 6th grade

In my early 20s one of my housemates (who was a sculptor) built an entire fingerboard skate park out of cardboard under his bed and would smoke weed and fingerboard under there when the weather was too bad for real skating.

this is from 2012? shit! I thought this was from 1999?!

I really feel like this is going to come across like an Evil Homer comment, but:

Fingerboards were actually popularized in the 50s and 60s, and still have a pretty huge subculture to this day. There are people who get paid to compete in fingerboard competitions.

FWIW Wikipedia says the first mass-produced, RIDEABLE fingerboards date to the late 80s and before that they were basically models.
