If you told me that I went to high school with one of these guys, I'd be inclined to believe you.

No joke I was just putting together a clip of top 80s/90s pop culture and news events and searched for OJ trial clips.

I totally forgot just HOW crazy people were getting over it. Do a search for the full Bronco chase, ending with him getting out at his home and the standoff with police. Crowds gathering outside with "Save the Juice" signs.

Then the verdict announcement. Playing live on the Time Square screen. Oprah's audience watching it. Most news sources going with nothing but clips of jumping black people and scowling white people.

Learning that "if it doesn't fit, you must acquit" was said at closing in regards to the whole case, not in response to the glove after the fitting like I always figured it was.

Everyone knew he was guilty, its just a black man got off on what white men do all the time! Except he was wiped out financially after the civil court verdict.

Though ultimately, this stupid case got in the way of after-school cartoons. Those were really tough times.

The OJ Simpson trial, along with the events surrounding The Starr Report, made sure Jay Leno didn't have to tell actual jokes for at least five years.

It's not as if he was doing that anyway, but lazy topical humorists dream of those long, sustained gimme periods.
