Politicon, happened Saturday. It's generally right/Libertarian leaning but they invited Sam Seder this year so I've been watching the clips as they leak out and so far it has delivered in spades.

Basically, the conservative debaters and panelists weren't prepared to deal with a moderator who didn't cut off their opponent if they were getting called out for an outright lie or glaring misunderstanding of basic policy or economics, so they actually had to defend their arguments this time and it got ugly more than once from what I've seen so far.

As far as I know the only thing that set him off here was being asked his annual income.

Seder debated Kirk, and moderated several panels this year. The day he got back he said "Politicon is just like Comicon, but with a lot less integrity".

I had to work today and have 45 minutes when I get home at about 7:30 to change, eat my first proper meal of the day and then I have practice with the new band, so I haven't heard his report on the experience yet but I am really looking forward to it.

When was it ever a requirement?

There was once a time that William F. Buckley was seen as an intellectual, if not just a blowhard with an impressive vocabulary. Eventually the modern right dismissed him as a crazy old man for suggesting that the Iraq war was an embarrassment to the Bush administration.

Krauthammer was ok, but the days when the likes of him or Buckley are able to shape conservative thought are long gone

Buckley was considered an intellectual by the same people that considered Liberace straight.

Honestly I'm not a big fan of either one of them and some of the B list have said some pretty awful things. Last video I watched they showed a Trump supporter talking about why he was in favor of fully socialized healthcare for all US citizens but not undocumented immigrants because he (falsely) thought they wouldn't be paying taxes in to it. He was in his 60s, had diabetes and black lung disease and couldn't even afford primary care. The TYT hot take was, and this is a nearly verbatim quote:


"If you weren't against immigration you wouldn't be sick because hate causes disease."

.Duck that, they are part of the problem. Also the WolfPAC constitutional amendment thing was a suicide mission. Even before 2016 I considered them "progressive Fox News" but these days I'm not so sure about the "progressive" part.
