Goddamn I miss John Ritter. Speaking of which... needs John Ritter tag, STAT.

So is the implication here that beer has destroyed all their brains so thoroughly that they didn't recognize Mickey Mouse even though they were just watching a news report about him?

Seven Arts/H8 Red - 2018-11-02

After the doctors from St. Eligius Hospital showed up, they likely assumed Mickey was an outpatient.

If Cheers is also in that retard’s snow globe, maybe we all are.

Cena_mark - 2018-11-02

They figure Mickey is too much of a big shot to wind up in their little Boston bar. It's like the time I was on a plane with a guy who looked like Lenny Kravitz. I didn't think it was him, because I didn't picture a big star like him going to a remote island on the Bahamas where no one goes, but then I read the wikipedia article about said island, and it turns out Lenny owns a house there, so now I'm pretty damn sure I was on a plane with Lenny Kravitz.

Cena's probably right. I bet they all thought for a split second that it was Mickey, but then decided he was probably just a deformed, inexplicably two-dimensional midget.

cognitivedissonance - 2018-11-03

It’s fun how central the DeVito/Perlman relationship is to prestige ensemble comedy. There’s a straight line from Taxi to Cheers to Always Sunny.

I’ve never understood why a bar that never has more than five customers needs two bartenders, a barback, and an on-site manager.

TeenerTot - 2018-11-02

That was weird.

Maggot Brain - 2018-11-02

What the fuck was that?

Old_Zircon - 2018-11-02

Did that actually happen? I watched a LOT of Cheers in grade school and middle school, and I rewatched most of the series a couple years ago, but I've never seen that before.

On the other hand, if Cena Mark is to be believed above then Lenny Kravitz is still a big star by some metric, and that's way weirder than anything in this clip.

I think it was part of a TV special celebrating Mickey Mouse's 60th anniversary. So it's probably not Cheers canon, except of course in one of the many Cheers alternate universes.

The Mothership - 2018-11-03

Definitely has a 'very special episode' vibe.

Marlon Brawndo - 2018-11-04

Yes, and Mickey's 60th Anniversary celebrated by bringing poor kids to Disneyland from across the nation from families that were experiencing hardship (it was the only time I got to go...) and my grade 5 teacher felt bad for me so I got a bus ticket and a free day and night at the park. They even closed the park early at 7 except for the kids who had been brought in and we got to go on all the rides with almost no lines. It was amazing and I will always thank Disney for that experience.

The TV special was just surreal. I think they just had him meet a bunch of sitcom stars. He also met the kid from Family Ties and Mrs. Cosby. Between that and Cheers, Mickey is lucky he didn't pass out and wake up chained to a wall somewhere.
