also I realize this is from 2011 but it also never got resolved and a lot of people got screwed over as they were shoved out by big solar companies and other industries that wanted the land for their own developments.

Yeah I pitched a short film on this a while back but couldn't get funding.
Oh also this video was some of the reference material for the pitch for the film grant.

Leaving the actual issue her aside, since I don't know enough about it to have an opinion, let's not forget that reason.tv is about as credible a source as, say, Vice (if not less credible), except with a hard line Libertarian agenda.
But yeah, there is probably some shitty dealing going on here, no doubt. Just like what happened with hydroelectric back in the day.
I'd like to something about the massive, ongoing water theft in central CA, too, where water is being diverted from poor regions to agribusiness upstream. That has been a huge problem for decades, probably generations.
I'm no fan of reason but I'd argue that they can't be the hardest of hard line libertarians for a few reasons. One of the reasons on display here is that they at least pretend to give a shit about poor people.
* reason i.e. reason.tv
I'm a libertarian and I care about people.
doesn't that kind of suck the fun out of it?
