Valve and its founders/employees could be a study in how money is a corrupting force that destroys innovation and creativity.

garcet71283 - 2018-11-20

To be fair, the same thing happened to Blizzard, Bioware, Bungie, Bethesda, Electronic Arts and soon to be Obsidian now that Microsoft is buying them.

SolRo - 2018-11-20

Blizzard is worse.

At least valve just stopped caring, blizzard turned into those rich assholes that believe because they’re rich everyone must agree with them and assumes everything they do is correct.

Aka Steve Jobs

I reckon the Blizzard founders were always avaricious money-men devoid of creativity.
Diablo 1 was innovative and great but it was conceived entirely by David Brevik and the Blizzard guys totally lucked into it... Then they never took a chance ever again, and have been remaking the same few games ever since.

SolRo - 2018-11-21

Oh definitely. Blizzard never innovated or did anything creative, but they used to put out borrowed and stolen ideas that they polished to the Nth degree to satisfy their customers.

Now they’re like dying Jobs’ apple...nothing is wrong with their games, customers just aren’t having fun the right way.

Gordon, don't get tea-bagged!

meh..

I actually loved the xen part of half life 1.. I really liked how the game seemed to get weirder and weirder (eg. the weird energy weapons, and then bizarre alien bio-guns) and theres this big setpiece where ure opening this portal in a giant chamber, that seems like an end fight.. but then you go through the portal and they double down on weird! and theres a good bit more game to go.

I loved the environments, the differentness of it to the game up until that point.. and also, I've always liked 1st person platforming. I dont think I got the memo sent to everyone else that it is bad for 'reasons' apparently.

Nah. Fan project.

boner - 2018-11-20

You ever read Valve’s employee handbook? It sounds like Lord of the Flies over there.

Giant testicle monsters.

garcet71283 - 2018-11-20

I remember a PC Gamer walkthrough that forever dubbed it (in my mind) the Testicle Rhino

Best jiggle physics since 'Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball'.
