The dance is from The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi's end credits (this is not innate dork knowledge: I only know this because I wrote about this vid when it came out) and what they are doing is called an off-kai (an offline meeting for online friends). Basically, they coordinated online to form a flash dance troop to do this in Akihabra. It's pretty cool. I especially love how the otaku's scatter at the end when a couple of beat cops idly walk by. That would never happen here: in the US, I'd still be giving the cops the finger as they wiped my face off the bottom of their boot.
