I remember watching this when it aired. I didn't like Elliot back then (I found his frequent appearances nothing more than filler, and I wanted more zany skits like when Dave & Paul did their road trip), and the whole dryness came across as nothing more than a failed attempt at humour.

Nowadays, what with The Office and that awkward comedy styling, I'm appreciating what Elliot and Letterman were going for.

Moreso when I look at Letterman and Hatsune Miku, and the disgruntled "where did my life go wrong" old man who lost the thread.

When I was little my parents took me to see Mummenschanz, probably around 1983 or 84. Seeing it now it's pretty much exactly how I remembered it.

So allegedly the guy in the audience you can hear yelling "MORE!" at the end and cheering was Al Goldstein, so that's one extra layer of amazingness to this whole thing.
