Man, I couldn't bring myself to watch that video after that description, so I shouldn't really rate it a 1, but fuck it.

Here's the thing. Imagine you have a kid at say 25 and they're developmentally disabled. Not your fault, certainly not their fault. You do your best to love them and meet their needs. The support you get from the state ranges from almost-adequate to almost-zilch, more often the latter, depending where you live.

Fast forward forty five years. Now you're 70 and your 45 year old kid needs as much help or more. Try to imagine what that's like. I know I can't. So maybe she shouldn't have been behind the wheel, or maybe like so many people she's just trying to get by and wasn't planning to have a stroke.

A little more sympathy for our fellow human beings can't hurt.

It was a click baity title so just take it as that.... My job is watching over the developmentally disabled in a group home. I have all the sympathy for this woman because the guys I watch over have fuck all taking care of them except the 3 guys myself included that work at this house..

I know a woman who is in exactly this situation that you described. Except she also had a husband who was in a wheelchair for the last few years of his life. She loved him dearly, but she admitted it was a relief when he finally died. but she still has a son in his 40's who will mentally stay about 5 years old and she's not getting any younger. I don't know what she'll do.

If he wasn't in state funded care before then I don't know what the hell happens to developmentally disabled guys like that. Well I do know, they become homeless and probably die
