I've since watched more of 'Genius Party' and its really good, the other ones I saw were superior to this. I would definitely not have chosen this one as an example.

The fact that the main character is this hot gerl with pigtails and no clothes is a bit offputting. You'd think someone who lives with a bunch of dolls with alien goo inside them would be a bit weirder looking.
I put it down to the fact that a lot of artists (that I know anyway) are sorta perverts, and just like to draw hot scantily clad people. Its as simple as that. From statues of greek gods, renaissance painters, comic book hero artist, to deviantArt.

Also also after looking at the wikipedia page for this, I clicked the link of one of the directors, Masaaki Yuasa, turns out he directed a few things Ive already seen + really like; Mind Game, Ping Pong, an episode of Space Dandy, an episide of Adventure Time.. I reckon I will check out other things hes directed.

Is it really Anime if it doesn’t look like anime? Can we just call it Japanese animation rather than associating it with anime?
