I had a former friend who depressingly became a libertarian republican over the years as his income went up. He would argue against rent control as going against the free market (he had just purchased an out of town property to be an absentee landlord) and the usual nonsense.

By far the douchiest prick thing he ever said was bragging about how much he paid for his breeder dog and how "it's more prestigious" than shelter animals I had taken in.

It isn't that expensive to buy a decent recorder with an attached lav.
