Wow. That was terrible. It reminds me of Jon Stewart shortly before he retired, when he was clearly just going through the motions w/out much thought or energy.
"What about the buffalo?" was pretty much the only good line.
I'm under the impression that laugh in was a lame attempt by network tv to cash in on the counterculture movement of the 60's. "Hey kids, fuck the establishment! You're watching ABC, don't forget to buy the products of our fine sponsors! When we come back the Smucker bros. are going to take a fat shit on the american flag woahwoahwoah!"
Iidk though, I wasn't there. This has probably aged better than anything that's been on Colberts show in the last 4 years.
Lorne Michaels was head writer on this show. Everything that's wrong with SNL in 2019 has it's roots in everything launched in here in 1968.
