If I remember correctly a few people inside of AUM voiced their concerns to a TV presenter who scrambled their faces on a segment aired on a talk show. What these poor souls didn't know was the presenter belonged to AUM. Said presenter personally revealed their identities to Shoko after taping was done. They were all dead within hours of the interview being aired. :(
What the fuuuuuck. Where can I learn more about this? And, in fact, about Aum Shinrikyo in general? I've found a four-part podcast episode about it, for starters:
They’re not terribly known in the States due to Japanese pride and Al Quaeda happening concurrently. Their plan was world conquest, and they were serious about it. Their downfall was the leader’s obsession with anime/James Bond technology to solve problems more easily resolved with good ol’ gunpowder.
