So are you going to do what literally every other website on the Internet does and offer something in exchange? Like, I dunno, a posting system that was developed after 2002? Because unless you make some token effort to modernize, it's kind of insulting to ask people invest in a ghost town.

After the 10th year of neglect, one might notice a glint of a pattern: there ain't going to be focused development on this site ever again. That includes coordinating another person to do the work, which is in some ways even more demanding.

If you have the will and wherewithal to make a solid alternative/new poeTV, just do it. Everyone here will *happily* migrate, provided you scrape the old site for old content, so we don't lose anything. You could even make a video here on the old poetv that transfers account ownership to the new site: have people comment a verification code here on your video, which would give them control of an account with the same name on the new site, with all their submitted/favorited videos and comments available in the new database.

I expect that, given the powers that be are not profiting and are just keeping poetv alive out of the kindness of their hearts, they'd even be willing to put a link at the top of poetv.com pointing to your site. As soon as everyone had moved over, they could shutter the old poetv.com (or even transfer the domain to you?), and finally not have to worry about it anymore.

I'm a programmer and could get all of this done, as well. But like other programmers before me on poetv, I have an indefinite number of other projects I'm working on, and it would take a fey mood indeed for me to sit down and build a new poetv. Will you be the one to break the mold and actually do it? Not holding my breath, but I'd love to see it happen.

I liked the old layout. Especially the comment box stretched out as it is now makes it harder to read.

I think many long time users/lurkers like myself like the old "web 1.0" feel of the site.

@Bostrom (and @pms): I actually got somewhat far on my replacement site, including scraping old video submissions from poetv successfully.

But, I feel like it would be a shitty move on my part to try to steal away poetv users unless I had the thumbs-up from the site owners. But yes, I have the code and time to get it done.

I don't have any dreams of big riches, but funding would always be an issue. My proposal would be to offer an ad-free experience (and maybe other features) for something like just a few dollars per year.
