Nice to see people in general realizing that the super-wealthy are parasites on society who need to be removed.
ps. Ever read about the terror of the French revolution and think ... hmmm, messy (and terrible) but warranted?

SolRo - 2019-08-25 We’re way beyond the inequality levels of the French Revolution yet no guillotines are being built

I regularly visit the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in DC. Practically half the museum is named after him. I'm sure the amount of money he donated was carefully calculated to provide the greatest tax benefit at the lowest cost. I wonder how long his name will remain on everything? I've often thought that if I am ever able to donate a large sum of money to something, I will stipulate that they can't name it after me. I dunno, complicated feels.

gravelstudios - 2019-08-25 Also, there is a part of me that recoils at the celebration of any human's death by other humans, even if that person has done great harm. I'd rather see us build a culture in which individuals can't accumulate the power to do that level of harm in the first place. Relying on the deaths of powerful people we don't like to solve our problems strikes me as backwards. Then again, who knows how long it will be until we actually achieve that kind of society. People are dumb.

cognitivedissonance - 2019-08-25 The social contract used to be that the wealthy had to reciprocate for access to wealth. The Medicis were obligated to pay for the infrastructure of Florence, be the patrons of the arts, and have openly visual evidence of charity. Yes, of course they were brutal and greedy usurpers who started multiple wars and stole anything they could, but they also produced art.
There are no requirements of social reciprocation now. Grab everything you can and buy politicians so you can buy more.
|
Raggamuffin - 2019-08-25 also now the economy is financialized, so wealth is generated through speculation instead of production.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2019-08-26 I was a little bit disturbed that Bill Maher said that he hoped the end was painful. When Osama Bin Laden was killed, a lot of the celebrating struck me as vulgar and inconsistent with my values, but I'm going to let my hair down a little in here, and nowhere else on the internet. I hope the end wasn't painful for him, but I'm glad he's dead.

I am not a good person.
I wish some Battlestar Galactica tech existed so this guy could die only to be resurrected into a new body.
Then that body would be immediately crucified.
Each time Koch's eyes popped open in the lab he'd realize he was about to be hauled out to the Golgotha and set up next to a bunch of his rotting corpses which were still in place.
"Congratulations, David! You're the first human to become immortal!" :D

For me, the last straw was Jeffrey Epstein's fucked up bond-villain Eugenics program. Before that, I'd been for.the rich paying their fair share of taxes, but I'm starting to think that being super rich should be outlawed. I'm tired of their fucking vanity projects. Zuckerberg seems.to have stopped flirting with a run for the presidency, but that piece.of shit that used to run Starbucks thinks he can buy his way onto the ballot without ever holding elected office or running in a single primary, just so he can kill universal healthcare, because, he says, we can't afford it. What we can't afford, motherfucker is another billionaire, and another billionaire vanity project. Google is.supposed to be working on immortality. That is some straight-up Lex Luthor shit.
