But would anyone really be surprised if it did happen?

Marlon Brawndo - 2020-01-16

Not sure what you're trying to say here. Do you actually think that Satanic child sacrifices among the super rich is a valid conspiracy theory? That's well into Alex Jones territory.

Hazelnut - 2020-01-16

Reminder that MB is a racist troll and not worth replying to.

Marlon Brawndo - 2020-01-17

LOL fanaticism.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-01-17

Well, Brawndo seems to be the voice of sanity here, which means that my go-to move is to pray for death.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-01-17

To answer SolRo. If it turns out that the rich are trafficking children so that they can rape them, that pretty much scans. If it's so they can drink their "adrenalized blood", that's a little too fucked up. Yes, if that turns out to be true, you can color me surprised.

SolRo - 2020-01-17

there are all kinds of beliefs in Asia about living/suffering animals being tastier or having special properties when eaten so I wouldn’t be surprised if some crazy old rich bastard made the jump to humans.

Also widely publicized research about “young blood transfusions “ making old mice more vital surely is causing a couple unlicensed quacks to offer it to their rich crazy clients.

Also human trafficking is a major problem

Not saying it’s happening but I wouldn’t be surprised if it ended up on the news one day

Hazelnut - 2020-01-17

@JHM to be clear I would, in fact, be quite surprised if it turned out the rich were drinking tortured adrenalized child blood. (Now, leveraging their wealth to go ahead of a chold in an organ donation queue, or buying a third mansion with the proceeds of massively jacking the price of children’s leukemia medication...)

My objection is to the messenger. MB’s modus operandi for a few years now has been
1) handful of reasonable posts
2) disgusting race baiting in the comments
3) flooding the hopper with race baiting videos
4) when called out on it, pitch a self-pitying hissy fit, flounce off the site, come back in a few months at step 5

He seems locked in this cycle so the best we can do when he comes back is encourage him to flounce off again as early as possible.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-01-17

But Hazelnut, don't you know that Marlon Brawndo is one of the few among us, perhaps the ONLY ONE of us, who has witnessed REAL racism???

In other words, yeah, I know, Brawndo's the worst. But I agree with him this time. And you do what you want, but I'm only going to hassle him for being racist when he's actually being racist.

Actually, it's when he starts referring to himself as "a free thinker" that I kind of wish that I could somehow use the Dark Side of the Force to vader-strangle him over the internet. Fortunately, I can't. So maybe he'll live to figure it all out one day.

To be clear, an underground black market in the blood of tortured and murdered children would surprise me. Some crazy old rich bastard deciding to become a vampire has probably already happened.

Hazelnut - 2020-01-17

Sound like we’re on roughly the same page.

Binro the Heretic - 2020-01-16

Stupid shit like this was more fun before the nut-jobs got together to gain political power.

A podcast I listen to had a few episodes discussing Alex Jones & his documented history of lying.

They covered his lie about his family having to move to another town after the police beat him for standing up in a high school anti-drug assembly and announcing the police officers giving the presentation had tried to sell him & his friends drugs they had confiscated from dealers.

According to Jones, he was taken to the teacher's lounge where the cops beat him in front of the Principal and told him they would kill him & his family, so that's why they had to leave town.

The truth was he had jumped another student he saw as a romantic rival from behind and pounded his head so badly he had to be hospitalized. Jones' father ended up paying the medical bills of the victim and giving them a book about how suing people was immoral.

Anyway, Jones showed up at a party that was attended by several of the victim's friends. He started some shit there and since they were already mad at him, they kicked his ass leading Jones' family to move to another house they already owned in a different school district.

The show interviewed several witnesses who knew Jones in high school and confirmed the true version of the story. When confronted with this truth, Jones said they were confusing it with the time he fought off the entire football team in the middle of the school cafeteria.

Anyway, one of the classmates they interviewed over the phone told them the truth was Jones got jumped at the party and never stood up at the anti-drug assembly to accuse the cops of selling drugs. When asked if Jones had been beaten by the cops in the teacher's lounge, he said that never happened. But then the guy's daughter, an avid fan of Alex Jones & Infowars who had been listening in on the call suddenly yelled at her dad, "You don't know that!"

The guy seemed confused and the daughter insisted, "You can't say for sure that didn't happen." She was adamant that even if she believed her father when he said Jones' family left town because he'd been humiliated after a well-deserved beatdown and that he never accused the cops of dealing drugs in front of the whole school, he couldn't say with certainty that Jones was lying about being beaten by the cops.

This is how these people are. As long as someone they trust says something, they will believe it, no matter how ridiculous or how many lies you catch that person in. And they have real political power.

It's not fun anymore. It's scary, frustrating & sad.

Gmork - 2020-01-16

It stopped being funny for me the moment he got elected.

Binro the Heretic - 2020-01-16

It stopped being funny WAY before that.

I think the anti-vax movement finally ruined conspiracy theories for me.

Cena_mark - 2020-01-16

It's the internet's fault. In the 80s Alex Jones would have been handing out home printed pamphlets out on the street and broadcasting on ham radio.

Binro the Heretic - 2020-01-16

No, in the late 1980's guys like Alex Jones rose to fame on AM radio. Limbaugh, Beck, that other fuckwad, etc.

Jones would have found his audience of primarily working-class White men. The Internet just made it easier for those assholes to connect with each other.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2020-01-16

Binro, you're right. But at the same time, I think that Beck and Jones are in another league than Rush. Rush is shallow and inflammatory and lots of other things, but he doesn't have the out-and-out paranoid mindset that Beck and Jones have. The bar's been lowered considerably since the late eighties.

Also, Beck really didn't get political until relatively late in his career, and he didn't get famous until he cried on TV after Obama got elected. He was a morning "zoo crew" guy for most of his radio career, and boy, does it show.

badideasinaction - 2020-01-16

I used to collect conspiracy theory books. The wacky ones, not the Protocols of... ones. Sometime after Trump was elected they all went into recycling. It wasn’t funny anymore...

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2020-01-16

The fact that a bunch of people who met on a web site devoted to weird internet stuff are tired of conspiracy theories probably says something about the world today.

Or it means that we're all getting older.

Marlon Brawndo - 2020-01-17

Beck is typical old school religious fundamentalist. He could have easily been a televangelist because he can cry on cue.

Alex Jones is just plain fucking dangerous because people take the shit he says seriously. The idea that that there are people having conventions over this shit is fucking frightening.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-01-17

No, the internet is a huge factor, because of the way all these stories cross-pollinate. A quick google of the guy in the video reveals him to be a critic of Trump and an admirer of Ilhan Omar. (He's NOT a fan of Israel. Does that make him antisemetic? Some people would probably think so, I'm withholding judgment. )

But when you look at the youtube comments, they're all plugging this into the usual right-wing bullshit narrative about QAnon and Pizzagate, George Soros and Killery.

Lest we surrender to despair, remember that QAnon happened at the same time as #MeToo. There's a whole lot of truth coming to light, enough so that maybe we can hope to hear in all these outright lies the ring of desperation.

M-DEEM - 2020-01-17

I'm trying to figure out what's worse. Eating Jones's shit and liking it, or hating his shit and eating it all day for years on end anyway.

Marlon Brawndo - 2020-01-17

Well Jones been deplatformed, so he isn't nearly getting the audience he once did.

William Burns - 2020-01-17

"dEpLaTfOrMeD" You mean YouTube doesn't consider advocating acts of stochastic terrorism to be commercially viable? Such injustice! I heard my local comedy club deplatformed Bill Cosby! Censorship!

Marlon Brawndo - 2020-01-17

William Burns - I said he was deplatformed. I wasn't complaining about it. I am not a supporter of Alex Jones.

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you people?

William Burns - 2020-01-18

Please post some more black trans cringe videos to show me how much you don't support Alex Jones.

cognitivedissonance - 2020-01-18

Jones didn’t swing into popularity until William Cooper died, a thing Jones had a thing or two to do with.

Marlon Brawndo - 2020-01-18

William Burns, are you talking about the town hall event video? Why would it offend you to submit that? You know people voted it out of the hopper, right?

William Burns - 2020-01-19

Why are you offended by my one-star rating?

Marlon Brawndo - 2020-01-20

I never said I was offended by you one starring the video.

I think it's a good video, though. I think it's a five star video! Sorry you didn't enjoy it at all, but I think the craziness seen in this video was a good subject to discuss.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-01-17

From the YouTube comments:

>>>As a victim I can tell you that this is true.

I know we're supposed to believe victims, so I feel a little guilty about my nagging doubts that this person posting in the video comments has been actually tortured and murdered. But you know how it is, I can't stop being a white male boomer and therefore part of the problem.

Spike Jonez - 2020-01-18

5 stars for that comment.

cognitivedissonance - 2020-01-17

Ya’ll dense.
