But the neoliberals!

Crackersmack - 2020-04-30

Yes, the neoliberals are why this guy is going to be reelected.

SolRo - 2020-04-30

Yeah I'm sure you astroturf bots are no going to play any part of that.

Crackersmack - 2020-04-30

No astroturf bots are needed when you all have a winner like Biden at the top of the ticket, with the most incompetent and hated people in the world working for him. Did you catch the Hillary Clinton endorsement event the other day?

SolRo - 2020-04-30

Good work astroturf bot. Here's your 25 cents.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2020-04-30

In Crackersmack's defense, I'm fairly convinced that he's a genuinely stupid genuine human.

Nobody would pay anyone to troll this wasteland.

teethsalad - 2020-04-30

yeah if anybody's getting paid to try and influence all the ossified nerds on this web 2.0 fossil hurry up and cash those checks while you can

Nominal - 2020-04-30

Mix of genuine stupid and longtime sneering contrarian whose preferences line up with whatever will piss people off the most and nothing else.

It explains why there's such an overlap with the current crop of Trump cheerleaders and the Tim & Eric submitters.

Hazelnut - 2020-05-01

I don't doubt it would be easy to write a bot that produces the same weirdly repetitive, whiny screeds. I'm not even sure that Crashtar passes the Turing Test. But at the end of the day, why take the trouble to write the software when a bunch of 4chan dopes will do it for free?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-04-30

Dear God, he is so incredibly fucking terrible. (These stars are for SoilRo.)

Born in the RSR - 2020-04-30

Hey man, some people just want to grill.

Binro the Heretic - 2020-04-30

STEP 1: Declare wage slaves "essential workers"

STEP 2: Declare "essential workers" to be "heroes"

STEP 3: Expect "heroes" to risk lives of themselves & their families for "the greater good"

STEP 4: Expect "heroes" to work for little compensation because that's what "heroes" should do

STEP 5: PROFIT!

SolRo - 2020-04-30

During this pandemic;

The "hero" class has had hundreds of deaths/suicides

The billionaire class has had increased their wealth by 300billion++

Crackersmack - 2020-04-30

..and the answer to this is the guy with Larry Summers advising him on economics? That proudly said yesterday that he would consider having Republicans in his cabinet? The guy that would veto M4A, and that has "no empathy" for young people with student debt?

SolRo - 2020-04-30

Good work astroturf bot. Here's your 25 cents.

Binro the Heretic - 2020-04-30

A few weeks back, we were awarded an additional $2 per hour. (But it's not "hazard pay" it's "to show you how much we appreciate your hard work during this difficult time pay.") It resulted in me taking home an additional $30 or so each week.

Anyway, this week they told us our hours will be cut. Full time will go down to 35 hours per week and part-time will go down to 20. Two years back, they had "temporarily" scaled full time back to 37.5 hours per week. So, I'll be working a half-hour less per day. And seeing as this is another "temporary" measure, I'm pretty sure they mean it will be permanent.

And the part-timers have it even worse. They've been cut to 4 hours per day and the schedule varies so wildly, they still can't seek another part-time job.

And the managers are all salaried. They still make the same amount of money.

SolRo - 2020-04-30

Yep. My managers are all salaried, they’re all conservative-ish idiots who to this day continue to drag their asses on protective measures. They’re also making sure their best buddies keep making the same amount of money as before the pandemic and fucking over the rest of us.

I took the parent company furlough offer when I had the chance. I’ll make a similar amount of money staying home on unemployment as I would busting my ass fixing cars of owners who, as far as I know, may be coughing up their lungs when dropping them off.

Fuck them all.

M-DEEM - 2020-05-03

You guys should be grateful anyone will employ your sadsack asses

SolRo - 2020-05-04

I’m not a bootlicker so no.

M-DEEM - 2020-05-04

You "bust your ass" but not a bootlicker. You really have an amazing ability to step on your own dick within two posts, you know it

SolRo - 2020-05-04

If I'm paid to do something and I accept the money, I will do a good job. It's a personal pride thing.

I have and will half-ass or not do a job if I'm not paid properly to do it, or asked to do it for free because corporate customer ass kissing reasons.

And I certainly don't give my boss a rimjob just because I work there. I'm good enough at what I do that I can switch workplaces fairly easily, even during these times. Or I can just go independent and become direct competition.

ashtar. - 2020-04-30

I'm not a vegan, but I've dated several. I usually only eat meat when I go out somewhere (or when I go fishing). Since my parents were of the opinion that each and every meal should include a meat portion, I was surprised at how not eating meat, or eating much less really wasn't a big deal, was much cheaper, and you also didn't have to worry about spoilage and contamination nearly as much.

Anyway, ordering poor workers (many of whom don't even get the rights of citizens and are subject to state violence at any time) to endanger their lives so that fat suburbanites don't have to consume slightly less of a luxury good that their excess consumption of is harming their own health, the planet, and supports an objectively inhumane and unsustainable factory farming system is the most American thing ever.

Which is why I love Vladimir Putin so much. Come on, fellow Americans! He is not such bad guy! Things are good in mother Russia. Are good jobs to be had doing non-specified internet work in support of homeland. Uh, so I hear. Take it from me, an American!

Crackersmack - 2020-04-30

mEaT iS a LUxuRy gOod

*Trump wins 40 states*

SolRo - 2020-04-30

Cracker;

‘I hate the neoliberal oligarchs fucking over the poor’

‘Democrats should not vote because possibly one one was sexually assaulted 30 years ago’

‘Also a bunch of poor meat plant workers should die to keep the precious hamburder supply chain uninterrupted for even a week’

You’re such an obvious neocon troll

Crackersmack - 2020-04-30

Obviously nobody should go back to work right now but of course a neolib would choose the most stupid and indefensible argument to try to make that point, like 'meat is a luxury'.

How do you think this message is received by struggling poor folks, coming from a party that is led by people like Pelosi and Schumer?

And I think Democrats should vote, and should defeat Trump, and that's why I'm exasperated at the choice of a candidate that is as clearly unfit and uniquely compromised as Biden is. Especially when half the primary elections were either held during a national pandemic or essentially cancelled. He's a bad person, a bad candidate, and he wasn't actually elected. And I'm expected to pretend that he's acceptable.

Hazelnut - 2020-05-01

The funny thing is how Asher and Cracket csn go straight from boasting about trolling to self-pity that no one takes them seriously. Sometimes four or five times in the same day.

Lockdown is tough on adolescents, I guess.

ashtar. - 2020-04-30

Sorry for the hopper snipe whoever submitted the earlier one. This seemed like a better link.

SolRo - 2020-04-30

There were no videos yet when I submitted it. also don’t care.

casualcollapse - 2020-04-30

I wish this place was a little bit more like Reddit interdimensional cable unless the political mess it's been since pretty much all time but I guess I'll accept the happy medium of it being both 😭😆

I don't think that's hygienic?

I love it when you talk dirty to me.

teethsalad - 2020-04-30

JBS in worthington slaughters 20,000 hogs a day - smithfield in sioux falls does a similar amount - just between those two packinghouses, it's something like 9-10% of the US's pork supply. A lot of the workers actually end up shuttling and work down I-90 at both plants through informal networks of vans and without changing the entire living situation including overcrowded housing, transport, adequate ppe, etc, nothing will change. A bunch of the workers protested a press conference the other day. Read an article about one of the workers who died whose spouse said they gave him a hairnet as a facemask at one point before the shutdown and that was about it.

And it's not like shutting these plants down is going to prevent the deaths of hogs - they're already euthanizing hogs in Worthington, with no actual utility derived from the meat already raised besides what they can break down and render from the carcass. farmers are shitting bricks because pork prices, already shot to hell by the whole trump china trade war, are absolutely shitting the bed. the packinghouses that are still taking hogs are screwing producers and have a huge discrepancy between market price and what they'll actually pay. these farmers are not working on huge margins to begin with. end result is, once again, the smaller producers are gonna go bankrupt and the consolidation of big ag will continue unabated. but what else is new

Born in the RSR - 2020-04-30

YES!

This isn't just about meat, it's about CHEAP meat. The industry requires a low-skill poverty stricken labor base, and that's also true for the EU.

teethsalad - 2020-04-30

Yep - and JBS actively preys upon refugee or marginalized populations and recruits them. Hmong, Congolese, Laotian, etc - they send buses to Mexico. You aren't going to find many Worthington natives in the plant outside of management or supervisor positions

just heard the number of hogs they think they might have to euthanize would range between 1,000,000 and 1,250,000. end to end, the distance would be about from southern minnesota to dallas

exy - 2020-04-30

hoowee that's a lotta hogs

Born in the RSR - 2020-05-02

I'm just gonna leave this here:

https://www.romania-insider.com/romanians-infected-covid-19-sl aughterhouse-germany

The owner of the slaughterhouse blamed the workers for being a "sociable type of people".

Prepare for that kinda shit!

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-04-30

"Tiger King" is the perfect expression of the shabby individualism of the Trump era. Who says I can't keep a Tiger in my back yeard. If I can't be allowed to indulge all my whims all the time, the terrorists win!

Nominal - 2020-04-30

But what about kitty and dog food :(

Rosebeekee - 2020-04-30

Duh, feed them vegan diets obviously.

Well, okay then. Problem solved!

teethsalad - 2020-05-01

curious exactly how long it's gonna be before trump lets them staff the packinghouses with prison labor

worth a read

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-05-01

The thing that makes me think that hey, maybe crackersmack really IS a paid russian troll, is that while he is relentlessly pessimistic about Biden beating Trump, and about Biden ever doing anything good if elected, his plan for getting Biden OFF the ticket is positive thinking, pollyanna, pie-in-the-sky nonsense.

COPYPASTA

CS
If the party establishment had any commitment to winning the general election they'd be pressuring Biden to drop out.

JHM
Maybe they are. I mean, probably not, but maybe this scandal has some new relvelations to come, and if they were, they probably wouldn't do it in public.

CS
The primary is still ongoing. Like 40% of the states still haven't voted. Why not have them vote by mail?

JHM
Because all the candidates are dropped out. You can't unring that bell. Superdelegates are your one Hail Mary, and the Tara Reade scandal would have to blow up like the top floor of the Nakatomi building.

CS
You absolutely can un-ring that bell tho. We still have months before the convention. There is plenty of time.

/COPYPASTA

But here comes the part that is total bananas. Here's the whole contradictioon in one paragraph. You see, it doesn't have to be Bermie.

>>> This isn't 2016 when it was just Bernie vs Clinton. We can still nominate one of the other broadly popular candidates that isn't a rapist. We can still beat Trump. Hanging our heads and just walking off the edge of a cliff like it's inevitable is fucking batshit insane.

So Here's what Crackersack is saying:

We can get Elizabeth Warren (third place) back into the primaries. Sure, she only has 81 delegates to Biden's 1406 delegates, but there's still plenty of time, and Elizabeth Warren, WHY SHE'S THE LITTLE ENGINE THAT COULD!

But running Joe Biden, who right now polls higher than Trump in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Ohio?

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/wisconsin/
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/ohio/
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/pennsylvania/

Why that's just doomed! A stupid futile gesture! A long sad march of a cliff! Trump is going to win 40 states, because ashtar said that meat is a luxury. But Ashtar isn't even supporting Biden, so what the fuck is up with that?

I think at this point it is an empirically demonstrated truth that Crackersmack is either deranged to the point of being unable tio distinguish reality, or deliberately not arguing in good faith. I'm sorry I said he was a piece of shit, but I wish that someone could ban him or get him some badly needed help.

Hazelnut - 2020-05-02

Well written and accurate summary!

What’s weird about it is the regular poetv comments audience is like, what, twenty people? Most (not all) of whom have made up their minds and are rotten listeners on the best of days. So there are very few reasons to invest many hours into the commentary. All I can think of is:

• It’s fun. (I enjoy it, but that’s of course a bad motive for a paid shill)
• You’re actually copy-pasting to 100 other sites. (Hm, would explain the weird disconnectedness of most Crashtar posts)
• You’re using the back-and-forth to sharpen your own prose and learn from others. (I at least try to do this.)
• You like bouncing your ideas off other people to see what happens.
• You think you can help someone specifically. (Sooner or later I will get through to SolRo.)
• You’re stuck in lockdown and just passing the time.

Crackersmack - 2020-05-02

have you been keeping a spreadsheet JHM?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-05-02

Okay, well, stinkycrack could be a paid russin troll, but he's probably just an amateur. But he sure is a troll. He quotes Biden on Roe V. Wade, and you look up the quote, and it's from 1974.

He doesn't mention that the quote was from the year Nixon resigned. In 1974, Mitch McConnelI was still pro-choice. In 1974, Queen's first album came out. In 1974, The Sting was best picture. In December of 1974, Kiss played their first show, opening for Iggy and the Stooges. No one outside of Georgia had heard had heard of Jimmy Carter. All in the Family, MASH, and The Mary Tyler Moore Show. were still in production, and Cheers wouldn't premiere for another 8 years. . 1974 was the year Ed Sullican died. Chalie Chaplain was still alive.

If they use a quote from 1974, a quote from 1974 is all they got.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-05-02

Is it weird that I don't know what a spreadsheet is?

Hazelnut - 2020-05-02

Somewhat weird. Do you know Excel? Those are spreadsheets.

I think you put your finger on it with that 1974 quote. Whether Crashtar’s a paid troll or a troll for free isn’t the point: his talking points _originate_ from the paid trolls via any of their big echo chambers. No way he stumbled on that quote himself. Dude doesn’t exactly strike one as a voracious reader.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2020-05-04

I know that it's a way arranging data that's used in business.

exy - 2020-05-04

Imagine a ledger, except it's on a compuuuter.
