I don't remember the Onion being quite this dark.

Not saying I disapprove or anything... it just seems like a change. Almost like they're adapting to the times in an appropriate way.

They needed a way for people to distinguish current news stories from old onion pieces.

500 dollar ambulance ride? WHO THE FUCK PAYS THAT LITTLE FOR AN AMBULANCE RIDE?! They're six thousand fucking dollars. Five years ago.

Do you have personal experience with this, Gmork?

I know that sounds like a snarky question, but I'm genuinely curious. (Full disclosure: I have no idea what ambulance rides cost, which is why I'm curious how/why you highlighted that point.)

Okay well 6,000 isn't unheard of at all, but 3,000 appears to be the more common number based on what im reading. 2,500 is the baseline and every 4 miles is basically 500 bucks. Even minimal equipment use during the ride jacks the price up 500-1200 dollars.

Someone had a heart problem at work a few years back and their bill ended up being 6,000 because they used heart monitoring equipment and other things related to his issue during the four mile ride that exponentially increase the end cost.

It changes state by state but even the lowest baseline ranges from 500-1200.

Here's an interesting (depressing) place where people have posted their ambulance costs and what was involved.

That explains a lot. Thanks for the info!
