Well he's always been outspoken on the issue of civil liberties. I know it's hard to look past your personal hatred but you can't deny that he has always had a good track record on that issue.

I'm not sure this mob is "crazed", BHWW, at least not crazed in the way that, say, has led to the lynchings and murders of African Americans by crazed whites. Rather this seems to be a case where an elected official whose position as such normally insulates him from the blow back of his policy positions is now receiving a warranted haranguing; and let us not forget his policy positions and political calculations have contributed to the fiercely polarized social situation we find ourselves in in the US, such that he, Rand, bears responsibility for his position on the receiving end of the mob.

So he opposes the same police tactics they do but he deserves mob hatred.

We all know how well mob hatred always turns out.

I think elected officials should be subjected to public haranguing when said officials exercise their power in ways that negatively impact the public, yes. Whether particular people of the public feel or express hatred towards the elected official is neither here nor there.
