Just fyi I utterly love this kind of thing.
If billions and billions of US taxpayer money is going to be swindled by the military-industrial-combine no matter what, then its incalculably better for the money to go into wacky research like this, rather than just pointlessly bombing random brown people into atoms over and over interminably.
I wouldnt be surprised if cool modern shit like boston dynamics owes a lot to this project or the likes of it.

idk, i look at this and think how impressive it was for the time - modern walking machines intended for military use are more advanced in terms of agility ofc but they are just as painfully slow.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2020-09-12 Totally agree.. Also progressive boundary pushing stuff tends to look shite at 1st.. Its like, the amount of work getting something new to work *at all* is enormous.. Once its working, optimising it and getting it to perform say 100 times better is relatively trivial.
