So you bought a knock off of a knockoff, how deep can the rabbit hole go

A few years ago I did some homework and bought a well regarded counterfeit of a knockoff of a GoPro for $30, but it turned out what I got was a counterfeit of the counterfeit of the knockoff of the GoPro. Instead of having a clone of the original knockoff inside, it had an identical body and packaging to the counterfeit that people swore by because you could flash the firmware from the knockoff on to it and end up with something that performed about the same as a $300 GoPro, what some research on the actual firmware loaded on to it showed was that it was actually a clone of a shit tier 240p camera that used to sell for under $50 at sports stores all the way back in 2006.

Chinese law prohibits shipping cameras INTO China so if you buy any kind of camera direct it's illegal to return it, but I ended up getting $15 back.


So yeah, it goes way deeper than getting a set of Chinese-name-brand knockoff earbuds.

At least you didn’t get a bunch of random trash as can sometimes happen with shady knockoff sellers.

Can you share a link to the particular product you bought, OZ? I'm looking for replacement headphones and I'm curious.

The price varies between $30 and $50, right now they're $29.98 on Amazon in black, a couple weeks ago when
i recommended them to someone they were $50, when i got them they were even $30.

You can probably find them on eBay or something to at least cut Bezos out.
