All the most popular conspiracies have shadowy powerful enemies that can suppress evidence. UFOs & aliens, the JFK assassination, the satanic panic, the Clinton body count, Q Anon, etc. To the people who believe this shit, lack of evidence is evidence in and of itself.

Some asshole on an Internet forum will claim to be an anonymous government agent who just happened to be in the office of a high-profile political figure when said figure received a mysterious package that they quickly put away in a drawer but not before the anonymous poster spotted "attn: Tucker Carlson c/o FOX News" on the shipping label.
Then they'll point to some photo of the high-profile political figure standing in front of a sign where their waving hand is close to the letter "T" while their other hand is close to the letter "C" and say it was them signaling to other members of the "deep state" that they had intercepted the package.

No actual GOP politician is in good position to run for president now. You need the showmanship, the shamelessness, the pure race baiting. Tom Cotton is racist enough, Mike Pence is Christian enough, but they are too boring. Republican voters want to chant "Lock her up!" and "send her back!" They need their candidate to say "Build the wall and make Mexico pay for it" and "we are going to get you the best, beautiful healthcare". They won't settle for anything less.

While their hardcore base will always simp hard for any right wing fascist, they cannot carry the general election alone and blatant racism can hurt the down ballot races.
Think tucky boy will need to bide his time for a decade or two so Americans can forget the recent past, as they always do.
