Binro the Heretic - 2020-11-03
This channel has been of great comfort to me for a long time, now.

Meerkat - 2020-11-03 Huh. Me too. That and Food Wishes. And Kruggsmash plays Dwarf Fortress.

Meerkat - 2020-11-03 Oh and also SaveAFox.

Sorry, the idea that this is all normal and we should all don't worry be happy is wishful retardation at best and dangerously defeatist at worst.
|
Hazelnut - 2020-11-03 Both are true. There’s this bit in Lord of the Rings where Sam looks up at the night sky and thinks, even if Sauron wins the stars will still be beautiful up there. And that gives him some peace, allowing him to then refocus on the grim necessities back on the ground.
If humanity ruins itself there are probably other planets with life. But I love America and humanity; I’m rooting for them.
|
Binro the Heretic - 2020-11-03 An even better example is when Sam & Frodo come across a statue vandalized by the orcs. The head had been knocked off and replaced with a boulder painted with a leering face.
But Frodo points to the head on the ground now wreathed with a crown of white flowers.
"They can't win forever." he assures Sam.

Two Jar Slave - 2020-11-03 There is nothing inherently moral about gazing into the abyss, and nothing inherently immoral about stepping back to preserve your own sanity.
Choose radical optimism! The last few years have brought some hidden problems to the fore, where they can be dealt with.

|
garcet71283 - 2020-11-04 Well, we’ve made ourselves feel better with LOTR and Dune references. Any good Star Trek and Star Wars ones so we can win the internet?

duck&cover - 2020-11-03
Sipping cocoa while the world burns. That said, I like Townsends'
videos and his message that we need to take a moment for quiet reflection.

ashtar. - 2020-11-03
Realizing that you have as much control over national events as you have over the orbital motions of the moons of Jupiter is the best self care advice I can give.
|
Nominal - 2020-11-04 Much like Limbaugh claimed that humans have as much effect on the environment as jumping up and down has on the Earth's orbit.
You Republican shill.
|
ashtar. - 2020-11-04 Kind of shitty how you, personally, didn't prevent the election of Donald Trump, Nominal. Get off your ass, geez.
|
teethsalad - 2020-11-04 hey ashtar you know what i hear on good authority DOES change the tilt of the earth's axis?
(hint: it's throwing bottles of piss!)
|
ashtar. - 2020-11-04 Just imagine how many piss bottles we could have bought with the $40 million dollars given to the Lincoln Project (more republicans voted for Trump than 2016) or the $80 million given to Amy McGrath (who lost by 20 points). Tell me, teethsalad, which do you think would be the better use of money?

Nominal - 2020-11-04
Welp. It's looking like we might be fucked.
Trump has Florida and Ohio. North Carolina by 1.4 points with only 2.6% left uncounted to go. Ahead in Pennsylvania and Michigan by a fuckton 12 and 13 points with about 75% counted. Anyone who thought Texas was a swing state is delusional.
Sure there's the slower to count mail ballots, but jesus regaining a 12 point disadvantage? And then there's the upcoming fuckery by GOP lawyers, state legislators, and packed conservative courts who will be sure to put the kibosh on the narrow mail-in upset that's Biden's only hope now. We needed a blue wave to dodge that threat, and it didn't happen.
|
Nominal - 2020-11-04 Oh, and so far Repubs are on track to not lose a single senate seat, while gaining 2 in the house.
|
|
Nominal - 2020-11-04 Can we officially declare polls useless at this point?
|
Nominal - 2020-11-04 Jesus christ, even Prop 22 passed in California with 58% of the vote.
What the FUCK is wrong with people?
|
SolRo - 2020-11-04 Americans are dumb and gullible.
Uber outspent the unions on prop 22 by like a factor of 10.
Buy enough lying ads and you can win almost any election in America (see also national races, dumbass Cubans in Florida, etc)
|
Nominal - 2020-11-04 Prop 22 was so awful, I can't even imagine how it would be spun into something the popular majority of FUCKING CALIFORNIA would be for it. Jesus christ, even goddamn Mississippi voted to ditch the Confederate flag.
My only solace this morning is that the "right to repair will let rapists break into your home" people didn't get their way.

Meerkat - 2020-11-04
On the bright side, the upcoming economic catastrophe, record body count and wild-eyed orgy of corruption won't be Biden's fault. He tried his best.
Definitely deserves some sort of trophy for putting up with this shit.
