I love that so much dangerous effort went in, yet the final product is remarkably boring. If I recall, one of the Spidermen fell 20-something feet and crashed into the orchestra pit. For this.
Well I think the moving sets with the perspective trick is really cool.
On the other hand, as a piece of theatrical spectacle this is like 1/6 as dazzling as the one time I got cheap tickets to a cirque du soleil dress rehearsal, after which I was so overloaded with acrobats and sequins that I had to take a nap.
It was cool, but there's no need for gimmicks when 2 luchadors could've tore it up on a specially designed "street" set instead of this wire junk. Audiences would suspend disbelief, the desire of the director to represent "flying" was unneeded
There's a sequel coming! I hope there ends up being a ton of Spider-Verse films. As an animated movie, it's so bold and inventive. Glad to see some "others" get their vision put on the big screen. I'm a classic animation nerd so Mulaney's Spider-Ham felt custom made for my tastes. Great movie!!
