He makes some good points.

Too harsh though.

Dying celebrity star creates hubbub to make himself look good, news at 11:00.

Stressed boss shouts about importance of following on-site safety rules, news at 11:00.

simon666 - 2020-12-17

It's probably safe to say that there were pre-production meetings, emails, and printed materials that everyone read, signed, and were spoken to about that discussed the importance of their covid protocol and the risks to the production if the protocol was not strictly adhered to. So me thinks this wasn't just out of the blue.

Rosebeekee - 2020-12-18

@simon666 What you just described is the norm for shitty little non-union shows. A big budget union show like Mission Impossible most likely had insanely strict rules.

simon666 - 2020-12-18

Rosebeekee, thanks for the insider info! Yeah, given how much money is at stake, what I'm assuming is tens of thousands of dollars an hour during shooting, nothing is going to get left chance in terms of what is allowed and what is disallowed. Everyone would be on the same page.

SolRo - 2020-12-16

Cult aside I wish my bosses were this aggressive with COVID protocols.

Scrimmjob - 2020-12-16

He wants to get blown BEFORE the jacuzzi!

And while I have you all here, Christian has something to say about adjusting the lights during a take.

simon666 - 2020-12-17

For you.

The Mothership - 2020-12-17

I ain't mad at him.

Rosebeekee - 2020-12-17

I just worked on a film where the 1st AD had no problem with the camera guys taking 40 minutes to set up a camera shot that they couldn't get to work, but wouldn't allow me 30 seconds to sanitize a coat that he made the actor and his stunt double share because "We gotta go, gotta make our day."

I don't care who Tom Cruise is yelling at, good on him.

TeenerTot - 2020-12-17

I never thought I'd say this, but Tom Cruise has a point there.

Violet Intents - 2020-12-17

Tom Cruise being the voice of reason during a pandemic is peak 2020.

That's said from what I've been able to find online apparently he tried politely many times to get them to stop half assing and I guess finally he snapped. I don't blame him and it's also insane Tom is showing more care for his crews safely than most employers and law enforcement lately. I have friends who should have been allowed to work remotely that weren't by orders of a boss...who got to work home remotely of course.

Jack Dalton - 2020-12-17

I don’t take issue with the tone, his message, or his motives— everyone there has an incentive to keep a production going, and he made that clear. Someone responsible needed to step-up to tell everyone not to fuck around. I’m sure Tom Cruise is a diva and maybe an asshole to crew on-set, but at least he is putting it to good use here.

jfcaron_ca - 2020-12-17

They shoulda started clapping at the 2nd "That's it." He didn't know how to end his rant.

But yeah I totally feel like this almost all the time when I go out in public these days. The fuck is with people not being able to follow simple instructions? I left a shopping cart full of groceries in the queue and stormed out of the store because the other people in the queue kept crowding in on me like a fucking zombie horde. The employees were not doing their jobs, and the patrons didn't have their brains turned on. I wonder how long my cart stayed there and if all the food went to waste. I wonder if anyone even noticed that I left in a huff, since I didn't feel entitled to shout at them like Tom here.

Nominal - 2020-12-17

My favorite is people who think they need to take their mask off in public in order to talk (loudly, on speaker) on their phone.

Last week there was this FUCKING CUNT walking all around the grocery store with her mask down, yelling a conversion into her phone, which yelled back on speaker. Was this some important conversation? A family emergency? A quick check on what to get for dinner?

Nope. Some mundane gossip about what some other cunt said to her at work that day.

This conversation lasted her entire shopping trip. I saw her checkout, still on her phone with mask down. She gets off the phone just as she exists, then puts her mask back on once she's OUTSIDE. Motherfucker!

"Maskholes" needs to be a tag.

Hazelnut - 2020-12-17

Ugh, the Sun. The UK gutter press has been pushing this angle for a decade that no one REALLY cares about the environment/ human rights / racism / equality / democracy / covid, it’s just those dang virtue-signalling multi-culti celebrities that think they’re so much better than YOU, the honest hard-working Brit. The kind of paper that repeats “white working class” ad nauseum to imply they’re the victims of all social progress.

On the other hand the clip is funny.

Nominal - 2020-12-17

How would you rate The Sun against The Daily Mail?

Hazelnut - 2020-12-18

Same paper at heart, I think same owner. Labour likes to call them “the billionaire press” and they’re basically right.

Rosebeekee - 2020-12-18

Apparently he was yelling at two crew members who were trying to see the monitor. I refuse to believe that a movie with as high a budget as Mission Impossible (who Cruise is a producer on) didn't:
A) Have the VEUR app set up where everyone can watch the monitor from their phone or tablet.
B) Afford to have enough people logged onto VUER at once (some of the shows I've been on cheap out and only let 10 people use it).
C) Pay to have proper antennas and shit so the app actually works within a 1000 foot radius.

Gmork - 2020-12-18

Oh look, literal monster and best "friend" of David Miscavidge is publicly virtue signaling for positive press.

Gmork - 2020-12-18

Yes. We agree with him in this clip. That doesn't make it genuine concern for people. The concern could very well be with just not stopping production. Don't give him any more credit than he actually earns.

Marlon Brawndo - 2020-12-18

5 crew members just quit.

This is fucking epic. Scientology Napoleon does not like it when people refuse to be screamed at.
