As a human being, it’s sad when anyone dies. The woman, Ashli Babbitt, had a family. I feel for them.

As a violent participant in a violent coup, she got what was coming to her. I’m glad that all the violence she, Trump, and other white supremacist have pushed since the election, their only concrete achievement: is to disgrace themselves before the world and make Moscaw Mitch the Senate minority leader.

Scrimmjob - 2021-01-08

Reminder that Hazelnut is a stupid britbong who can't shut up about US politics for 5 fucking minutes.

Hazelnut - 2021-01-08

Aww, poor baby. Sorry about the Senate.

Cena_mark - 2021-01-08

How can one not make a comment that is considered political for this video?

Cena_mark - 2021-01-08

I've warmed up to Roman Reigns since his heel turn. His new tribal chief gimmick is refreshing and works much better for him than the 'tude filled baby face he was initially pushed as.

teethsalad - 2021-01-08

Lol @ mark

glasseye - 2021-01-08

The state murdering people is bad.

Cena_mark - 2021-01-09

Yeah, it's like the Montreal Screw job, but instead of Bret Hart being put in the sharpshooter, it was Ashli Babbitt getting shot by a sharpshooter.

Violet Intents - 2021-01-09

Take my stars Cena, jesus christ that was the going up to Bret's Rope of comments.

1394 - 2021-01-09

Remember, Bret's rope is the most dangerous rope!

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2021-01-09

I'm gonna agree with Hazlenut here.

teethsalad - 2021-01-09

Pillager - 2021-01-08

Over–under on Sedition charges for the surviving lunatics?

love - 2021-01-08

I've been wrong about things before, but betting on flood of "get past this and start healing" BS and only the lightest of prosecutions.

badideasinaction - 2021-01-08

I’ll settle for felony murder for every one of them.

radiosquido - 2021-01-08

They're so hard to be getting in on the action with their little phones so they can post it on whatever fucking platform they use that they're delaying care to a GSW victim who was one of their own. Everyone in that hallway not in uniform is guilty of manslaughter. These fucking deranged soulless psychopaths.

Cena_mark - 2021-01-08

This idiot died for Trump's lies. She died for ridiculous conspiracy theories. She may have been a veteran, but she died wrapped in a Trump flag.

Two Jar Slave - 2021-01-08

Truth in Advertising laws need to be applied to politics. The ability of a politician to spread conspiracy theories and debunked rumours is directly endangering people.

exy - 2021-01-08

Agreed. I've often thought, especially recently, that elected politicians should all be held to be permanently under oath, the way a lawyer is automatically under oath in court, while serving their term. If you can prove they're lying, they get in trouble. Never happen, but a fella can dream.

SixDigitDebt - 2021-01-08

You're asking lawmakers to make law that forces them to be accountable?

Hah.

poorwill - 2021-01-09

"You're asking lawmakers to make law that forces them to be accountable?"
this is what we have in my country - it's not an impossible dream.
of course, the US has got a lot of un-fucking to do before it can even think about doing that.

exy - 2021-01-09

Yeah, it's a sticky wicket, just like campaign finance reform is. Are you suggesting that, because society will never be perfect, we shouldn't consider what to aim for in order to improve it?

SixDigitDebt - 2021-01-20

Not in the slightest; I just don't see idealism getting in the way of reality. Doesn't mean the efforts to improve society shouldn't happen.

Binro the Heretic - 2021-01-08

Ultimately, the lax security is responsible for her death. They should never have been able to get as far as they did.

Yes, this is a case of "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" Yes, it's sad, but not tragic. The fact remains, though, they were hoping for martyrs. She could end up being the next Vicki Weaver who inspires the next Tim McVeigh.

And it all could have been prevented if the DC Cops and security had simply used pepper spray, tear gas, riot shields, beatdowns, etc. they were all so willing to use on BLM during the George Floyd protests. That crowd should never have gotten anywhere near the Capitol building.

The authorities fucked this up. The authorities need to be held accountable.

So does Trump and all the GOP assholes who incited this.

Mister Yuck - 2021-01-09

Absolutely right.

jfcaron_ca - 2021-01-08

I voted this down for the crap title that will mean nothing to anyone in 2 weeks, the crap categories, and the fact that the site explicitly tells you not to post videos of actual human death. At least the tags aren't as crap as usual.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2021-01-08

Every time some NRA shitstain on YouTube tries to scare liberals and "SJWs" with the threat of Civil War, I have to do a gut check. Am I willing to die for my country? I think I am. Why not? I'm sixty three, my partner is dead, it wouldn't be that much to give up.

This woman was young, attractive, articulate. Her best years were ahead of her. I think she must have had more courage than I ever could. She believed in what she died for, because she had been lied to by a whole industry of opportunists and exploiters. And she's the one who was held accountable. So it goes.

Meerkat - 2021-01-08

I'm not willing to die for my country. Everyone I know is a jerk with nothing better to do than try to manipulate me for their own stupid wants. If everyone around me was going to die if I didn't lay down my life you better believe I'd be in my car headed for Mexico before the first one dropped.

jfcaron_ca - 2021-01-08

A country is a pretty silly thing to die for, in my opinion. I mean they are worth trying to improve, but c'mon.

Civil war is the closest thing we have to literal hell on earth, no way am I volunteering for that.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2021-01-09

I have an idea of America as a place where the worst person on earth afaik can't bully and lie his way into absolute power. I've already had my threescore, if I can't give up my ten for that, well fuck me.

Meerkat - 2021-01-09

Well it's a better way to go than dementia, I'll give you that. My plan is to spend the last years of my life on a beach in Mexico, drinking tequila and eating street food. Then when I start to get confused and can't do my own taxes anymore I'll go cliff diving and miss the water.

casualcollapse - 2021-02-25

But evil.. No?

Jeriko-1 - 2021-01-09

Fascism has to. Has to. Be slapped hard. You can not reason with it. You can not debate with it. The one thing they will understand is 'fuck around and find out.' This country cuddles up to the far right way, way too much. Sympathetic to it. That will end in disaster. Period. Especially if that Crenshaw fucker inherits the reigns of the so called alt-right. Which he will. I am an idiot to many but that is a dire warning.

casualcollapse - 2021-01-09

I have a special hate in my heart for Dan Crenshaw as myself a native Texan.

Violet Intents - 2021-01-09

I can see that happening with Crenshaw, which will make Pete Davidson being forced to apologize to that thin skinned pussy on SNL age really badly in retrospect. First that had Trump host like morons when he was running, so this would be another feather in their cap of bone headed bafflingly stupid decisions.

Mister Yuck - 2021-01-09

I have to disagree with your tactics. Fascism thrives on death and violence. I don't know how we beat it, it's terrifying. Both under-reacting and over-reacting could result in authoritarians taking over. Anyway, it's a quibble. I'm not a pacifist and I don't have a problem with killing fascists. I'm just pretty sure we can't beat them by killing them.

SolRo - 2021-01-09

The problem is that it’s nearly impossible to stop a movement that thrives on death and violence without using violence, unless you just lay down and give them what they want.

Mostly dependent on the stage of fascism. The earlier you crack down on it the less violence needed. But when they’re carrying out terrorist attacks and trying to overthrow your government it’s not the time to turn the other cheek.

jfcaron_ca - 2021-01-09

I mean that's the inherent tragedy of a political philosophy that seems to forbid the use of certain effective tools: opposing philosophies will use those tools against you. We don't abhor fascism because it's weak or ineffective, it's because it's evil.

We inevitably have to stoop to some level of fascism (ordering soldiers to their deaths, harsh penalties for desertion or cowardice in combat, etc) if we are to prevail at all. It's not a failure of our underlying philosophy unless we forget about it in the process and stop using those tools once it's no longer necessary. You also have to be careful to constantly evaluate those evil tools to make sure they actually work (unlike e.g. torture or indiscriminate killing of civilians).

No one gets to be a purist, but also you should never give up on your principles. It's hard.

pastorofmuppets - 2021-01-15

What did the cop say at 1:44? "You guys can't come in here if it's unruly?" Jesus Christ. Every time I see a video of this thing I'm shocked at the way the cops just treat this group of rioters *inside the Capitol* like a substitute teacher would. I mean, I get why, but it's still fucking crazy.
