Five stars for reminding me how different the world feels in just seven days. America is in a huge hole and the damage will take decades to fix, but at least the executive branch is now making an effort instead of actively malignant.

We're back in the Paris Climate Accord and the WTO. We're unmuzzling doctors and scientists. We're repealing acts of pointless cruelty against immigrants and the transgendered. We're strengthening DACA. We're requiring masks in airports. We're building vaccination centers instead of a shitty pointless hate symbol of a wall.

On its way to Congress: pandemic relief, testing and vaccination, support for local governments, direct payments and supplemental unemployment insurance, and doubling the minimum wage. It will test what is possible in the new Senate, but following the process is part of democracy.

Oh, and of course putting the instigator of an attempted coup on trial. Even if a corrupt jury lets him off, the evidence will stand in the record forever.

As first weeks on the job go, not bad.
