Feelin' cute, diggin' ure grave ;3

But seriously the pearl clutching ye guys do about every boston dynamics is just sad.

For decades, much of the most advanced AI and robotics has been in missiles and aircraft.. Things that can fly (sometimes suborbital) and explode (sometimes with nuclear warheads)
These are seriously fucking dangerous, it would be sensible to be worried about that kind of stuff.

What boston dynamics have been doing is pure whimsy. They want to make walking robots cus it would be cool AF, and its a serious engineering challenge. They have conned money out various companies (and DARPA for example) touting various practical applications, but they are just bullshitting. Perhaps this tech will have some non-utterly-obscure reasonable practical application, but really Boston Dynamics just wanna make a robot that can walk like C3PO and other sci-fi robots cus that would be awesome.

I don't think it's pearl cluthcing, I think it's wishful tinking. We all long for release.

Crackersmack - 2021-02-05

police departments are already buying these things and it's only a matter of time before we see the first one used to kill someone for noncompliance

Not sure how whimsical it is to design a robot specifically to replace warehouse workers

casualcollapse - 2021-02-06

That's pretty fucked yo
