Jesus tap-dancing Christ.

This was Benghazi with a less competent mob of assholes. The GOP still hasn't shut their pie holes about putting Hillary in jail over Benghazi, but they want this swept under the rug as quickly as possible.

Fuck.

Them.

ALL.

Anaxagoras - 2021-02-04

The thing that's really pressing my rage button is how people on the right are saying either that she should just get over it or, and this is even more annoying, that she wasn't *actually* scared; she's just pretending to be afraid.

This coming from the same bunch of chickenhawks that regularly burst into tears when told they might face jail time for an attempted insurrection.

My God the right is becoming tedious.

also, if you haven't read it already:

Very good link

Christopher C Miller signs his name like a child.

Will he recieve any punishment for his actions? Exactly.

Also, was AOC actually in the capitol building? Her office is not in the Capital building that was invaded, but in another building. It's still on the same campus, but not the same building. There is a street dividing them.

She must have gotten the same warning/emergency communication as the main capitol building, but there were no aggressors in her building. she may have been cowering from the janitor.

Can this be mentioned on social media?

The illusion of freedom of expression is eroding quickly, all over the world.

Albuquerque Halsey - 2021-02-02

She was in the Cannon and Longworth office buildings, the riots were a block away at the Capitol building.

Binro the Heretic - 2021-02-03

They told her to seek shelter. The person who busted into her office was an officer sent there to escort her to safety. Clearly, someone thought the people in that building might be in danger as well.

There was a rampaging mob of idiots running around. Who knew what they would do?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2021-02-03

A block away isn't that far, and she's a prime target. She had to go through them to get to her car. Think of the hate mail she must get. She's young and attractive, so think of the violent, SEXUALIZED hate mail she gets! At first she seems frightened, but as she continues, you start to feel her rage, particularly at the arrogant cowards she has to work with. I have to say, I know how she feels. Actually, as a white male, I probably don't.

This is rambling and formless, and I'd like to see her telling this story in a more coherent form, but I'm forty minutes in, and I'm kind of riveted.

I never thought I could have more contempt for the Republican party, but yet again, I've been surprised.

Anaxagoras - 2021-02-04

This is the first time I've listened to AOC for more than 10-15 seconds. (i.e. the duration of a soundbite) I noticed 2 things:

1. I totally get why she is such a hated figure on the right. I had always assumed that they were enraged because she's a smart, attractive, assertive young woman, and I'm sure that all of that plays a large role. But it's more than that: her speech patterns are quintessentially millenial. Like, I've spoken with plenty of teens & millenials, (my dog walking route takes me right past a spot near a local high school where the kids hang out to smoke) and she's somehow peak millenial. It's like everything about this woman is designed to irritate conservative jackasses.

2. I really like this person. She's obviously Good People.

ashtar. - 2021-02-02

I'm sorry but she has zero credibility. A total sellout and fraud.
How can anyone trust or believe someone who won't even pee in my mouth when asked respectfully through DM? She does all these live streams but won't produce the stream that Americans really need. Sad.

exy - 2021-02-03

had me in the 1st

ez - 2021-02-04

Previously did the photo shoot crying at the empty parking lot....
Previously said that she didn't want to go to the same hiding place/extraction point as other congresspeople because she thought they might kill her....
Left out that she was in her office, with said office being in a completely different building where no rioters entered.....
Said that she almost died that day and could have been killed....
Later said that Ted Cruz tried to have her murdered....
Now tells the story of how the cop who was doing his job to check on her and make sure she was ok was possibly trying to kill her (and again left out the part about being in a completely different building).....

Forgive me if I don't get too worked up about the emotional story of what could have maybe hypothetically happened and how she's lucky to be alive.....

ashtar. - 2021-02-04

First she says she's going to fight for stimulus for all Americans, but now she says she won't stimulate my balls with her feet?
Just another hypocritical DC politician. Disgusting.

Anaxagoras - 2021-02-04

There is one thing though that she gets wrong that really really bugs me. She says over & over that the conservatives who say "What you went through is no big deal... let's just move on." are using the language of abusers.

That's incorrect. That's not the language of abusers. It's the language of assholes. A wide variety of assholes use that kind of language, and it's unhelpful to label them all "abusers", since different tactics need to be used with different kinds of assholes.

Gmork - 2021-02-04

Considering that fascism's opening move is to gaslight half the country I'd say the abuser comparison is absolutely warranted.

Anaxagoras - 2021-02-04

You might be right; my irritation has the feel of a pedantic objection.

The problem is that phrases like "this is the language of abusers" get picked up by idiots, and either misused or misunderstood, and then we're stuck with a shallow understanding of both language and abusers.

But idiots will always misuse and misunderstand something... it's kinda in the nature of idiocy.

Nevertheless, I stand by my objection! I'm technically correct, which is the best kind of correct!

Anaxagoras - 2021-02-04

The more I think about it, the more I realize that you & AOC are right, and the language she uses is probably dead on. Well... it's not dead on from an accuracy viewpoint, but it's probably the most useful distillation of the situation.

Gmork - 2021-02-06

I understand your resistance to distorting the meaning of words or phrases through popular overuse.

Gmork - 2021-02-04

Bravely rated and reviewed Brawndo and ABQ-H

Albuquerque Halsey - 2021-02-04

i agree with probably 80% of AOC's political views and i am still not going to pretend to care about her story.

I'm not going to let the past four years turn my brain into cum like everyone else.

Gmork - 2021-02-06

imagine not even attempting to find a middle position between absolute sycophantic worship and extreme dislike.

Hazelnut - 2021-02-04

AOC makes me really like the younger generation. Not all of them, but a whole lot of them are marked not just by higher principles but a refusal to turn a blind eye to a lot of bullshit previous generations just gave a pass. Good on her.

Crackersmack - 2021-02-04

jfc I wish she would let this go and stop digging the hole deeper, all this focus could be on getting me a check for $2000 instead of arguing with maga chuds about the exact location of her office

Hazelnut - 2021-02-04

Lazy, dull, phoned in. It's like Ashtar lost all his oomph after completely failing to talk people out of voting.

Gmork - 2021-02-06

it does have a sort of defeated air to it
