I shot this . At the beginning, you hear me mutter "You're fucking kidding me!" This is because, after holding my new phone uncomfortably above my head for three minutes, I pushed what I thought was the STOP VIDEO button, but it was really the START VIDEO button.

Cinema Savers opened almost 30 years ago. It used to be called the 1.50 theater. The building wasn't originally a theater, and I can't figure out what it used to be, but it's a beautiful old building, with three levels of theaters and rooms for private parties, connected by a jerky old elevator, and big stairwells like you might see in any public school that was built before 1955.

They stayed alive last year with socially distanced private parties, and by selling treats from the concession stand in the parking lot to passersby. I don't know why they never changed the sign, perhaps to remind us of those happy days.

I'm going to list movies I saw at Cinema Saver, just off the top of my head:

1. CAPTAIN AMERICA: WINTER SOLDIER
2. KILL BILL, PARTS ONE AND TWO
3. FORREST GUMP
4. GRAVITY
5. DARK SHADOWS

New phone, what you get?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2021-02-08

Nothing special. I am not someone who should invest in an expensive phone.

On November 1, 2017, my best friend, a woman in her 70s, bought me the best phone I'd ever owned, an LG Fiesta 2 for 100 dollars at Wal-Mart. Incredible battery life, fast charge, generous screen, impervious to anything but water. Eight days later, she suffered a fatal fall on her steps. I kept the phone for six months before dropping it in the toilet and killing it. I bought another of the same model, which incredibly, also fell into the toilet, when I dropped my pants, forgetting that it was in my pocket. It just bounced weird. I bought two more LG Fiesta 2s over the next two years, for a total of four. Those each lasted more than a year each, easily a record. My final Fiesta 2 is still operational, but the battery life was shot to shit, so I decided to retire it.

The Fiesta 2 has been discontinued, but you can still buy one, for a lot more money. Its just a great phone!

I was ready for an upgrade, but not willing to take a big risk, so I got another LG, a Stylo 5, which looks and feels a lot like my previous phone, but has twice the storage, 32 GB vs 16 GB, and more RAM, 3 GB vs 2 GB. It has the impressive, but slightly terrifying ability to recognize my face and fingerprint. Even so, it's not as good. It doesn't hold a charge as long, and it freezes up from time to time.

I bet you're sorry you asked.

For all the money you spent I’m glad you finally got the waterproof phone

They just closed Cinema Savers after 30 years. The Last movie I saw there was BARBIE.
