No, it won’t.

Some coins are specifically designed to be speculative, like Bitcoin.

Bitcoin will never circulate like a currency. If it ever worked as designed it would be deflationary as it's increasingly hard to make more of. If it worked as intended it would always make more sense to hoard the coins than to spend them. But it won't ever work as designed because it's designed around libertarian ideology and is only and will ever be only a speculative asset. It's collectible numbers.

This shit has been around for a while, it's not that new, it's pretty well proven, Elon selling 10% of his stake in Bitcoin just proved that it's easily transferable... Just look at the graphs for Bitcoin and most cryptocurrencies it's a simple logarithmic curve and I don't see the top of it appearing anytime soon, each big jump made the previous highs look pitiful..

yeah, much of this core concept goes back to the early 90s, but this particular gimmick managed to stick the landing while shedding a reputation for being a currency that enabled people to trade child porn and crack, so i give it props for that i suppose

i always assumed a bunch of folks got into it due to how badly shit spiraled in 2008, yet at the same time it was not only worthless for something like two years but the energy was being burnt by folks who (i guarantee) knew about things like folding @home

It's a scam, and some of us are smart enough to spot the scam, but none of us are smart enough to spot the peak and sell then. The other thing is that the whole scheme relies on a bunch of people buying at the peak and being left high and dry with nothing but a flash drive full of numbers where their bank account used to be, so it's kinda scummy to get involved.
