This reminds me of Prey where I should be in love with it on paper, but the aesthetics and enemy designs are fighting tooth & nail with the zombie thriller tone it should be going for. Prey expected me to be scared of haunted coffee cups. This looks like it's trying to make horror out of a Saint's Row game.
Can we declare the recent trend of "indeterminate mass of black bio goo" enemies in horror games to be a failed experiment? Prey, Resident Evil: The Village, and this. It's just so bland compared to well designed monsters with an actual form.
A big chunk of L4D's enjoyment was the visceral thrill of mowing down zombies. Using time grenades and pulse thingies to knock down Kingdom Hearts heartless? Not so much.
Sort of how I got bored with Prey after I used a glue gun on my 9th haunted coffee cup.
