that's true but I also can't imagine any scenario in the year 2021 where that dude in the chair isn't murked by the first cop to respond to the scene, like there's no way that something like that ends in any kind of standoff anymore

Sometime in the 90s cops started getting “Warrior” training and the father of that dead cop going around showing his son getting killed to every police department.

They’re now basically being trained to be trigger happy cowards rather than peace officers.

Pre Rodney King LAPD Chief Daryl Gates made a hard push to militarize the largest PD in the nation, and largely succeeded.

I always heard (from cop neighbors) that the North Hollywood shootout in 1997 was the catalyst.

That, and when some white nationalists were pulled over by Ohio state troopers and it turned into a shootout. Over-examination of the dash video fueled the whole "be jumpy at everything" mentality.

Urban sprawl is starting to encroach on redneck habitat so we can expect an uptick in encounters, it's just nature

During the 1st lockdown I saw a redneck all the way in downtown. With us out of the way nature was reclaiming the space.

There's that one crazy video of a redneck approaching a locked down bookstore. I don't think he got in though.
