Well, no the South Park movie was actually pretty good because it drove its jokes so far into the ground it went from "lame and edgy" to "accidentally absurdist."

They're libertarians, so everything they've done or ever do is stupid... Come on man. Why so judgy? They clearly have a love for the restaurant and want to save it. Have you not watched the Casa Bonita episode of South Park? It's one of their best. It shows they love the place and wanted to keep it running.

South Park was always absurdist but I guess they had to drive the jokes into the ground for you to finally get that.

I know what you mean, but I think that a movie-length format really worked for them in a way that a half-hour format just doesn't.
