Continental has a concept for a more realistic green tire that features retreading to cut down waste, though I’m sure it won’t be done with a 3D printer.

I remember hearing that tire & car companies actively lobby against regulations for quieter-rolling tires in favour of higher performance (e.g. for driving way past safe limits). The result is much higher street noise when speeds are high enough that tire noise is higher than engine noise.

@All, its not just the tires.. Its fucking everything about this video. It purports to be 'futuristic', but it features atomic family living in low density surburbs going everywhere by car. These are dumbass ideas (which people just pulled directly from their assholes with no basis in fact) from the 19th century which were implemented and failed fucking spectacularly in the 20th century, leaving a terrible legacy which we are still are having to deal with.
