I'm reading a mystery right now called The Last Policeman" partly about what daily life is like while knowing that an extinction-level asteroid will be hitting the Earth in the coming months. Seeing this video the other day made the book feel even more real. No reason this couldn't happen here in our lifetimes.

Nice summary of the counterarguments, but none of them seemed to be a deathstroke, as he acknowledged in the video. I’m a scientist so I know this is all part of the push and pull of research and publication. I’m certainly not going to the mat on the basis of one article, especially in a discipline that is not my own. I wouldn’t be surprised if an article as long and detailed and with so many analyses as this one turns out to have overstated or misinterpreted one or more pieces of evidence or gone too far in its conclusions. Happens all the time, and that’s why I’m glad for peer review pre- and post publication. Thanks for the video!
