Weirdly enough, despite the fact that you can talk about its musical lineage, I'm thinking that "Goth" might have been just a modern manifestation for the sort of brooding, dramatic, death-obsessed teenagers that have existed since forever.

I also sort of suspected that the clothes and the scene and the lifestyle mattered more to a lot of Goths than the music, which, quite frankly, goes from "okay" to "unbelievably hokey," if I'm the one being asked. I always thought that that crowd just needed a soundtrack for S and M or absinthe drinking or whatever, and goth rock pretty much fit the bill.

Only "Rivet Head" goths are really Goth. You don't know Jack about Goth.
