Good ol' deep sea gigantism!

It's so cool seeing this ship so well preserved; like stepping back in time.

There's a fun party board game called mountains of madness. You play a Lovecraft antarctic expedition setting out to explore the city of the elder things and bring back artifacts.

Every turn you get a challenge to play a certain number of different colored cards in your hand, face down, in the middle. When time is up you flip them over to see if you played the right amounts. It's incredibly easy at first.

As you go on, the elements, food, injuries, and the alien artifact take their toll on your sanity, forcing you to draw madness cards as you grow increasingly insane. They start out as minor silliness, like not being able to look anyone in the eye. Then you might have to verbally substitute numbers for names of months. Or you scream every time someone says a certain word. Eventually it gets crippling like shuffling your hand and being forced to play with your eyes closed. You never know what everyone's insanity conditions are, so it looks like they're randomly acting like loons. If asked about it, everyone is supposed to deny that anything is wrong and they feel fine. Communications break down, the cards start getting super trippy and confusing as you push deeper and survival looks grim.

It's pretty fun!

Sorry, I meant that the whole group has to play cards every turn.

The challenge will be "8-11 blue, 4-7 red".

The group will communicate:
"I have a 5 blue and 3 red"
"Ok I have 4 blue and 2 red"
"Cool let's play that."
"Done"

Late game it will look like:

"May blue. March red."
"Is that...yellow?"
"AHHHHHH!!!!!"
"What is it?"
"Nothing, what did you say?"
"I can't tell if that's yellow."
"AAAAAAHHHHH!!"
"What!!!"
"Nothing."
(Player 3 walks around the table to stare player 1 right in the face)
"Play 4 blue, 5 red. I've got the rest."
"April? May?"
"Why are you in his face?"
(Player 3 walks around to stare player 2 right in the face)
"I've got this. Don't play any yellow."
"AAHHHHH!!!!!"
