I’m sure they were getting pressured to do something to stop boats from being damaged. The stupid idiots getting too close just gave them the good excuse.

The euthanasia decision wasn't really triggered by the destruction of the boats. What made authorities react was the danger to people themselves. Dipshits were getting in the water & swimming with the walrus, or they were encouraging their little kids to walk up and "meet" the walrus.

So a human injury (or death) was becoming a certainty.... provoking putting down the walrus. I kinda wanna punch each and every dipshit that triggered this outcome, but... yeah.
