Can Lego Play the Drums?

Can a Lego set explain to me why it was so much easier to get natural swing out of my Mark of the Unicorn sequencing software in 1999 than with the latest iteration of Ableton Live (or indeed, out of the sequencers on new drum machines/samplers?)

Hear hear.

It's a little better if you turn of quantizing and hack it out with a synth instead of the sequencer but in general I use it as reference only and arrange for a human to play it properly later.
