Don't be naive. His show grossed - grossed - a $100 mil a year in ad rev. Measured against such a huge payout and added to the impending lawsuits, that's a totally unsustainable burn rate. This was 100% risk/reward economics where the risks became to high to keep him.

Not to mention the trans fixation is a dead end. Neither James nor Lachlan Murdoch have any real zest for the issue and they see it as a stopgap issue during Trump wilderness narrative. DeSantis isn't appropriate for Fox, largely because they're super buddy-buddy with Disney right now, and he picked the wrong fight and is losing. They're stuck with Trump but are waiting for a Chris Pratt type to appear.
