Stopheles -1 star for a few blown rhymes that have always made me roll my eyes. + 10 for everything else about one of my favorite singles from the 90s.
kingarthur Yes. Now we should go find "Nicklebag of Funk".
William Burns Blown rhymes? The "blown rhymes" just make it better; these guys are so laid back they don't NEED to rhyme.
Stopheles I guess I just think that the only thing that could make this song more perfect would be if the first verse was a little little bit more structured - mainly because at the time that this came out, I was starting to get REALLY obsessed with the hyper-elaborate rhyme schemes of Rakim or even second-album Leaders of the New School.
Still, I have never ever ever heard this song and not closed my eyes, grinned ear to ear, and bobbed my head like a drinky bird in a tophat.
Thatcher Pennywhistle One star because she's cute. Digable Planets are barely a footnote in what was the golden age of hip-hop.
boba. I agree, but apparently it's blasphemous to say that kinda shit about this kinda song here. jazzy beats with little content -- appeals mainly to non-rap listeners.
Horsecock Johnson, M.D. A genuine classic. It's a shame "Blowout Comb" was so slept on, as was Mecca's solo release.
