Yes, because satirizing how developers always pretentiously overrate their own products takes all KINDS of reading and research.

I gathered that was the general gist, but unfortunately satire is a fickle mistress and demands that people be familiar with the subject. This would have required people to actually follow the development cycle of Cold Fear, which no one did. Whoever the heck "Gunther" is, he's no John Romero or George Brussard.
