I used to have the novelization of "The Car" on my bookshelf, having picked it up from a "paperback exchange" rack at a library. OK, that contributes nothing but I just wanted to put it out there.
I just like the idea, OK a demon car is randomly terrorizing some Southwestern community. That's the pitch.
Also, the incredibly squarish front grille just screams "DEMON CAR".
