coprolalia The girl in the mask is a thirteen-year-old burn victim, and the person behind the camera is her little brother, who is confined to a wheelchair. They are both orphans living on a large inheritance in a meager apartment in Tokyo.
Living in a culture that values its public harmony so intensely makes it extremely difficult to get outside much, so they pass the days pretending and playing boardgames. Occasionally they brave the cold stares of strangers and manage an afternoon at the bowling alley or an ice cream shop.
They started making videos to try and connect to the outside world, but no one understands.

Then it turns out to be an undercover cop, the backup comes storming in with full riot gear, and arrests the sweaty bucktoothed cartoon-fetishist. Later, we see a CNN style crawl on the bottom of the screen detailing the murdered and dismembered corpses found in the freezer and under the floorboards, the weeks of home video, while pictures of the murderer's inscrutable, emotionless face (with pixelated eyes) flash on the screen. Then the reporter mentions that this is only the first sting on a whole ring of these sort of people.
Well, we can dream, can't we?
