He handled that pretty well. Did they expect him to cry?
"Drag isn't it?"
Spoken like a man. John would be proud.
OOH ICE COLD!
That's about what I'd say to a bunch of circling vultures.

Get that gum out of your mouth and show some respect.

That's not cold. He's probably pissed that people keep harassing him about it.

He was ballsy enough to be out on the street.
If anyone knows about the how manipulative and soundbite-seeking the press is, it's Paul McCartney. Also, Paul and John weren't on the best of terms before he died. So here's his epic best friend that he had a falling out with shot in the street, and some toffee-toothed reporter is hoping he's going to get a crying money shot. His response is totally justifiable.

He looks dazed to me. I think it's pretty obvious that he hadn't begun to process it. Besides the shock of Lennon's death, the thought must have occrred to McCartney that it just as easily could have been him who some crazy asshole shot dead. If someone had shot McCartney, and some reporter had asked Lennon for a comment, it's not hard to imagine him saying the same thing. I mean, what the fuck was there to say?
He clearly wanted to be left the hell alone. He was polite enough to answer the questions, and boo hoo if he didn't give them what they wanted.
He didn't have to start crying for the cameras, but he could of said something along the lines of "I'm dealing with this in my own way, and I'd appreciate a bit of privacy".
I think he gave the finger to the camera @ :42.
Stay Classy, Paul.
George Carlin was right: "The wrong 2 Beatles are dead."
5 for giving me one more thing to add to my "Reasons I Hate McCartney" pile.
