I assume this will be gone in like ten minutes? I watched it in the hopper and it made me uncomfortable. I'm not gonna pretend like I can muster up an articulate rebuttal to what he said but he's just so slimily self-important about it all that I want to beat him and everything he believes in with a shovel until it dies.

Pompous dick, meet faux-pompous pseudo-dick.
snppls
Colbert is absolute perfection in this.
Camonk
This guy is so mincingly convinced of his own superiority that he comes across as an ignorant, lisping luddite.
SolRo
Guy should have googled "degenerate art" before claiming nazis didn't restrict art.
Aubrey McFate
Saintly mainstream reporters are being outnumbered by paid-off bloggers. This guy is incredible.
Brautwurst_Barbarian
So, the internet makes artists poor?

Hmm...
Xenocide
Looking at paintings is stealing! Quick, burn the museums!

In a rare reversal of his usual practice of uncovering the truth by pretending to be on the wrong side, Colbert cuts right to the chase and exposes this guy's whole deal at 1:30, then just batters him around for four minutes.
lolcoolj
This guy apparently doesn't understand that Colbert is an incredible actor.
magical man
Colbert is some kind of genius

What the internet is destroying is the cult of the unique art object, access to which elevates our old-moneyed overlords out of pig farmer status. Yay new money! Some 4 me pls.
Crucifried
"The Internet is impossible for artists" is the cry of artists who don't know how to evolve. I'm an artist. I love the internet. If it wasn't for the internet, I would've have gotten half the illustration jobs I've had.
Princess v2.1
Someone should introduce this guy to 4chan
Tyfus
How can this guy look in the mirror and not kill himself?
It's been said many times but it bears (BEARS) repeating: Stephen Colbert is such a great man.

You loathe it? Is that English for 'love'?
Ursa_minor
I know quite a few artists that have made a fortune off of the internet, and they weren't even looking. Just posted some comics and drawings to their blog and overnight had a bazillion orders. Fuck this guy.

Not that this really needs another rebuttal, but here it is regadless: Real artists are supposed to be poor. The idea that an artist has an inalienable right to make money off his work is asinine and shows a lack of understanding of the word. And as far as "artists" (musicians and the like) losing money, well - that's just incorrect.

Stephen couldn't cut away at my hate for this guy.
Corman's Inferno
"STOLEN, probably." What a goddamn douche.
Adramelech
I'm not a dude that likes to throw around the word douchebag, but holy shit. It's hilarious enough when someone has an entire worldview based around something they barely understand, but using it to support these batshit ideas about art is beyond words.
Roachbud
Andrew Keane isn't entirely a doucebag, just go watch lonelygirl13, he has some valid points.
Syd Midnight
Some fine sparring between 2 professional trolls.
