Not to "geek out" or anything, but the actual award it won was "Best Artistic Quality of Production." The actual winner for "Best Production" was "Wings" (1927).

However, the "Best Artistic Quality of Production" was, in effect, a defacto redundant Best Picture Award. It was subsequently discontinued.

Right, so it's historically recorded as the first Best Picture award, tied with Wings.
