These are some horrifically cruel experiments. I offer them as a testiment to true cruelty, so those of you who feel the need to bitch about animal cruelty will finally have a legitimate reason to do so.
You should five-star it while you're at it: It is videos like this that exposed animal cruelty and helped create more stringent regulations on animal testing.

voodoo_pork - 2007-10-15 Here's the rub. I completely agree with what the ALF stands for: decent and respectful treatment of animals and veganism/vegetarianism (to a point). But they are simply the wrong, unwanted, unnecessary "radical posture" voice for that important message.
All they are doing is casting a negative light and essentially speaking for a larger group of vegetarians/vegans/animal right supporters who did not ask to be represented like this. They are the radical minority who try to inaccurately represent a mostly silent majority.
This is not civil disobedience. This is burglary, vandalism, and vigilantism. Breaking into a lab, even a lab suspected of torturing animals, is not the ALF's job, it is not the citizen's right or obligation. It does not use the democratic process directly, and will not change anything. Maybe it may expose a single outfit inhumane use of animals, but it will not address a systemic, wide-spread issue, like factory farming.

No rating. There is no way I'm watching this.

I'm five starring this because I support animal testing 100%. To quote Penn & Teller: If strangling every chimp in the world would cure AIDs, I would do it. In case you haven't noticed, Human beings are animals and animals kill other animals to survive, just like animal testers do.
|
Fecund - 2007-10-15 Are you retarded? Human Beings aren't ANIMALS, they're HUMAN BEINGS. It's right there in the name.

Roachbud - 2007-10-15 Make your ad hominem attacks, I don't give a flying fuck. Fuck animals, human beings are suffering all around the world -- our own goddamn species. These ALF fools waste their time fighting for nonsense when they could be trying to end poverty or stop the war.

Afgh - 2007-10-15 Look what you did, Xiphias.

|
FatFatuousNation - 2007-10-15 I'll add that this particular researcher did seem a bit sociopathic, but that may be a fabrication of the video.

Angel Carver - 2007-10-15 You just quoted Penn and Teller. Enough said.
|
waxeater - 2007-10-16 The best argument he could make was to quote Penn & Teller. Why even bother trying to reason with him?
|
Glenn or Glennda - 2009-12-19 Strangling all the chimps in the world will not cure AIDS, so the point is moot.
If you "support animal testing 100%", fuck you, you're an idiot. If you oppose animal testing 100%, well, I guess you're a compassionate person with clear moral standards, but fuck you too.
If you assume that human beings matter more than animals, you really have to assume that there is such a thing as necessary animal testing. But if you assume that torturing animals is bad, and that some corporations and soulless people think that money is more important than not torturing animals, there has got to be such a thing as gratuitous, useless animal testing. It's not always about human life being worth more than animal life. Paying a human subject to test your shampoo costs more than keeping a cat in a tiny cage, but it also produces information that humans will find more relevant and useful.
IIn the simplest terms, it should go like thiis:
people > not torturing animals > money
from what I can see, even this may be far more complex a standard than most interested parties are willing to apply to these questions. Is there a voice for reasonable use of animal testing, and reasonable restraint?

Everything about this video is pretty terrifying. Even the presence of Jack Black as Dr. Kenneth Stoller produced a hearty frown.

-1 star because that cat is not USB compatible.

Singing Penis - 2007-10-15
If they were really lying about the SIDS research that's pretty monstrous, but I'm not going to take the ALF's word for it. Anyone know where to find more information on this?
|
Meerkat - 2007-10-15
-1 for the crappy reading. "For animals that have no voice. Frankenstein Lives." should really be "For animals that have no voice, Frankenstein Lives". See the difference quality makes? Otherwise it's just two sentence fragments and not a complete sentence. Devoid of substance and meaning. Fuckin cruelty to the english language goddammit it pisses me off I mean really this is just the worst
|
Meerkat - 2007-10-15
Also, WTF, you don't need a million dollars to know what a cat is gonna think, it thinks you're an ASSHOLE. All they had to do was go get a cat from the humane society and try to teach it not to piss on the carpet. You hit a cat and it doesn't associate that with anything other than you being an asshole.

i can haz sweet relise of deth?
The experiments seem fucked up but I'm taking the facts as presented by the ALF kooks with a grain of salt. It really seems like you could induce hypoxia in a cat (if that was the idea) without spraying it with ammonia though.

crote - 2007-10-16
Excellent work, Kitty. I'm uploading you some cyber modules now. They're hard to find, so use them wisely.

Tom Collins - 2011-01-05
"We successfully trained this cat not to breath and recorded its brain activity."
"Excellent. But what does this mean?"
"I...I have no fucking idea. Just had a hunch the data might be useful."
